Doctoral studies at ISA
ISA provides an opportunity to pursue a PhD in History and Theory of Art and Architecture. The programme aims to foster independent and pioneering research in the field of arts and humanities while also preparing students for future roles in academia.
Students can work independently under the guidance of a professor from the Institute of History and Theory of Art and Architecture. Although attending courses is not mandatory, it is recommended that students participate in Work in Progress seminars and the activities organised by the AAM Doctoral School (active since 2023) and the Confederation Doctoral School in Italian Civilisation, which ISA has been co-coordinating with the Institute of Italian Studies (ISI) since 2012.

The ISA PhD programme follows the doctoral study regulations at Università della Svizzera italiana Academy of Architecture.
